Which Diapers Should I use?
The different types of cloth diapers may seem overwhelming,
so here they are broken down.
Pre-Folds:
Pre-Folds are the most economical way to cloth diaper your
baby. They are highly absorbant and there are multiple ways
to fold the diapers, depending on your baby's size and needs.
Pre-folds are secured with a Snappi (diaper pins are a thing of
the past!) and a diaper cover provides you with water-proof
protection.
*It is a good idea to have a few pre-folds on hand as back-ups no
matter how you choose to diaper.*
Fitted:
Fitted diapers are shaped lke a typical diaper, so there is no
folding involved. A Snappi is sometimes required, as is a
diaper cover. This is economical diapering, made simply!
Many fitteds can be stuffed with inserts for extra absorbancy.
Pocket:
Pocket diapers are water-proof on the outside and velcro or
snap closures are used to secure the diaper. There is a
"pocket" that is stuffed with inserts to obtain the desired
absorbancy.
All-in-Ones (AIO):
All-in-One diapers are the ultimate in cloth diapers. They
consist of a water-proof cover, snap or velcro closures, and the
absorbant layer is sewn in! On most models there is still a
pocket for night-time stuffing.
Many people use more than one diapering system to meet
their daily or life needs. (i.e. prefolds at home and pockets or
AIOs for going out). Whichever way you choose to diaper will
benefit the environmment, your pocket-book, and, of course,
your baby!
